Maxwell Golden is a BirminSlam/UK Allcomers Slam poetry champion and accomplished freestyle MC (Battlescars finalist). Blurring the lines between poetry, music and theatre, he has toured with theatrical productions across the UK and internationally in Berlin, New York, Chicago and Sydney. He is also a workshop leader and accomplished music producer who has received support on Radio 1 and 1Xtra, and releases on Bassbin (as MXG), NLT and forthcoming on Critical recordings. In 2008 Maxwell Golden was chosen by Nitin Sawnhey to become an Emerging Artist In Residence at the South Bank Centre; a residency that culminated in “Takeover” a sold-out event that he was co-artistic director of alongside Jason Yarde. Maxwell has recently starred in Soho Theatre’s “Everything Must Go”, Riz MC’s MICroscope, and Jonzi D’s production of ‘Markus The Sadist’. He is currently an associate artist at The Albany Deptford, and part of the Writer’s Hub at Soho Theatre.
