THTC Photoshoot, 7th May

thtc black

Founded in 1999, THTC- The Hemp Trading Company – is an ethically driven underground clothing label, specialising in eco-friendly, politically-conscious hemp street wear.

Working alongside the lovely Aruba Red and Dulcie, who were very brave in the cold May weather, down by the canal in Dalston we snapped the new range of women’s garments which are available to purchase online here.

THTC’s new range of recycled hemp ladies’ garments is now available exclusively on the THTC web shop! The range, which has been designed by recycling pioneers My Only One is very limited edition, with no more than 30 pieces per style ever to be produced!

 ad

This range is expected to sell out very quickly, so why not grab yourself a piece of history while you can. THTC is the only company in the world to produce recycled hemp clothing!

If you use the voucher code ‘recycle’ at the online checkout you will be able to receive 20% off any of these, and all the rest of THTC’s range. This offer is for retail orders only, not for shop wholesale orders.

The range has been modeled so far by singer  and model Dulcie Olivia.

Rebel MC, Screaming Soul & DEFDFIRES @ Jamm, Brixton, 1st May

Straight after the comedy night in Catford, I made my way down to funky Brixton town to go and Jam at the Jamm on Kennington Road, I’d just missed Rebel MC do his thing, but luckily caught DJ Snuff on the decks, Screaming Soul and DEFDFIRES performing on stage…Screaming Soul smashed it, heavy bass lines and dub infused beats alongside revolutionary conscious lyrics – our own Nas & Damian Marley duo, straight up!  DDF next up with their double time raps and funky beats, big up Jazza on the dance moves still, Prymary Source, EL and Nemesis ripping up the mics, its been a while so it was extra special to see these guys nicing up the place, check out the myspace pages for a sample of the music…

Celebration of Dance @ Bernie Grant Arts Centre, 29th April

fundraise1

Selma Nicholls, director of dance company Creative Engagement who run a dance studio at the Bernie Grant Arts centre in Tottenham, recently had news that the premises she runs her business from is soon to lose funding and she must find a new home, affecting many young people that use the studio for dance practice.

This event was therefore arranged as a fund raiser to help raise funds to relocate…the call for help went out, and dance crews all over responded, what we ended up with was a night of fantastic dance theatre, some of which blew me away.  Hosted by Hakim Onibudo, director of Impact Dance UK  and Performing on the night we had: Bird Gang, Uchenna, Ishimwa, E-Motionz, Carinne Gayle & Tashan Taylor, IronIncs and the night finished off with an amazing performance by Ballet Black.

Recent news has surfaced that the company may not have to relocate just yet, allowing more time to find a new home, watch this space, massive shout outs to all involved especially Selma for organising such a good event in so little time, all the dancers who responded to the calls for help! And everyone who turned up to support the night, much love.

Jack Jones ft Tugga War & Gappy Ranks – Oh No! Video Feb 2010

A pleasure once again to be on set with the FullyFocused production crew and director Teddy Nygh, with an interesting eye for artistic talent, this time round HipHop vet Jack Jones teaming up with dancehall artists Tuggawar and Gappy Ranks.  The outcome is a well shot colourful video, best viewed at 1080p!  If your connection can handle it…

Well done to all involved, I myself had just had a bad bike accident a few days before and had to move around set at much slower pace than usual, a challenge still!

Stills from the shoot below with full video at the bottom.
